One of the main reasons to use a soap made specifically for your beard is that the other regular soaps contain chemicals that will dry out the natural oils found on your beard and your skin. When facial dries, it becomes frail and vulnerable to breaking and. It other words, it becomes unhealthy. Your skin will also suffer from drying out and dandruff is the most common condition caused by dry skin.
Sure, you may use a beard oil or a beard balm to moisturize your skin and beard, but in order to increase the healthiness of your beard, consider using a beard soap. Made with natural or organic products, these soaps will strip away for less of your beard’s natural oils and will not irritate or dry your skin.
Since most regular soaps have chemicals that remove your beard’s natural oils, it’s recommended to wash your beard with soap once a week. However, if you use a natural/organic soap designed specifically for your beard, you could wash your beard daily.
Not all beard soaps are created equal, so let’s take a look at some of the things you should be watching out for:
The following 3 brands make some excellent beard soaps that meet the criteria above.
Mr. Natty Natty’s Face Forest Soap Beard Shampoo is my number one choice when it comes to beard soaps. The reason I like this product so much is because it contains natural ingredients, it has superior cleaning capabilities and does a better job conditioning your beard (in comparison to my other 2 favourite beard soaps). It also smells amazing, like rosemary and peppermint. The only drawback to buying this product is its slightly higher price.
Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap is one of the oldest soaps on the market. It was fist created in the early 1870s even though it is not marketed for beards, it should be. It’s a mild soap, which makes is perfect for facial hair. It lathers quickly, and even though the soap has a dark brown color, the lather is white. It also cleans extremely well and leaves your beard moisturized and manageable. It has a strong smokey scent, which I really love. You will feel the strong scent in the bathroom for as long as you have the soap. However, the smell will fade once you wash the soap out. If you’re on a budget and are looking for awesome beard soap, Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap is your best choice (as long as you can indulge the smell!).

The Honest Amish Beard & Body Soap is one of the best natural and organic beard soap on the market. It makes a great lather pretty fast and it gently cleans the beard. After washing, I’ve noticed my beard is really soft and manageable, so the soap also has some conditioning properties, which is also great. When it comes to the scent, you have 3 options: Original, Slick or Extra Grit. You can’t go wrong with either. They all smell amazing, like all Honest Amish products.
